The Macao Police Band was established on 1 April 1951. The Band is part of the Public Security Police Force and regularly performs at official ceremonies.

The Macao Police Band currently has 44 members. Members of the Police Band have daily rehearsals, including small group sessions, and practice for official ceremonies. The picture shows a rehearsal session of a woodwind ensemble.

To become a member of the Police Band, applicants have to pass a music exam; in addition, they must pass all requirements to becoming a Police officer, including a written exam, a medical exam, and a physical fitness test.

In addition to music rehearsals, the Police Band also practices synchronised marching to ensure coordination during official performances.

Aside from official ceremonies, the Police Band also performs in community events, takes part in cultural and recreational activities and in concerts at local schools.

The Police Band uses a variety of musical instruments, covering respectively the woodwind, percussion and brass families.

The Police Band has introduced in recent years a variety of new musical styles to its repertoire, from Jazz to Pop, using woodwind and brass instruments.
