Information from the Statistics and Census Service (DSEC) indicated that licensed motor vehicles in Macao totalled 240,801 as at end-July 2020, up by 1.0% year-on-year. Light automobiles (109,878) and heavy motorcycles (100,727) rose by 1.5% and 2.6% respectively year-on-year; however, light motorcycles (22,838) dropped by 6.8%. New registration of motor vehicles in July increased by 12.4% year-on-year to 1,270, with that of heavy motorcycles (756) rising by 40.8% while that of light automobiles (473) falling by 11.9%. In the first seven months of 2020, new registration of motor vehicles went down by 4.1% year-on-year to 6,563. Number of traffic accidents in July totalled 888, with 347 injuries. In the first seven months of 2020, there were 5,129 traffic accidents, involving 1,862 victims and 3 of them were killed.

Cross-border vehicular traffic in July slid by 81.5% year-on-year to 83,837 trips. Attributable to the adjustment of the quarantine measures, light automobile trips surged by 117.5% month-to-month to 56,214 in July; yet, it represented a year-on-year decrease of 85.9%. On the other hand, heavy truck trips dropped by just 6.0% year-on-year to 27,583 on account of a continued demand for freight services. In the first seven months of 2020, cross-border vehicular traffic reduced by 67.6% year-on-year to 992,525 trips. Meanwhile, gross weight of containerized cargo by land in July grew by 18.6% year-on-year to 1,888 tonnes, of which inward transit cargo (922 tonnes) passing through the Checkpoint of Cotai leapt by 327.4%. In the first seven months of 2020, gross weight of containerized cargo by land rose by 33.4% year-on-year to 13,463 tonnes.

Gross weight of port containerized cargo fell by 22.7% year-on-year to 10,298 tonnes in July, owing to a slip of 74.1% in cargo handled at the Ká-Hó Harbour (1,463 tonnes); meanwhile, cargo shipped through the Inner Harbour (8,835 tonnes) went up by 15.2%. In the first seven months of 2020, gross weight of port containerized cargo decreased by 28.4% year-on-year to 61,633 tonnes.

Arriving and departing commercial flights at the Macau International Airport in July declined by 95.2% year-on-year to 309 trips. Air cargo totalled 2,048 tonnes, a drop of 37.4% year-on-year; gross weight of inward cargo (297 tonnes), outward cargo (1,678 tonnes) and transit cargo (73 tonnes) shrank by 49.8%, 24.7% and 83.8% respectively. In the first seven months of 2020, arriving and departing commercial flights fell by 77.5% year-on-year to 9,470 trips, and air cargo reduced by 29.5% to 15,263 tonnes.

As at the end of July 2020, there were 110,910 fixed-line telephone subscribers, down by 7.1% year-on-year. Number of mobile phone subscribers dropped by 20.4% year-on-year to 1,665,466, with stored-value GSM card subscribers (848,474) decreasing by 34.7%. Internet subscribers grew by 7.8% year-on-year to 609,164. In July, the duration of internet usage went up by 1.7% year-on-year to 135 million hours. Total duration of internet usage reached 950 million hours in the first seven months of 2020, an increase of 5.0% year-on-year.
