The Chief Executive, Mr Ho Iat Seng, is to attend on 20 April the opening ceremony for the Boao Forum for Asia Annual Conference 2021.

Mr Ho will lead a delegation to Hainan Province on 19 to 20 April for the Forum, which is themed “A World in Change: Join Hands to Strengthen Global Governance and Advance Belt and Road Cooperation”.

The Boao Forum for Asia Annual Conference 2021 – held from 18 to 21 April – features six modules: “Explore China”; “Understand the Changing World”; “BRI Cooperation”; “Embrace the Industrial Changes”; “Dance with New Technologies”; and “Development for All”. Through open discussion and exchange of opinions, the Forum is designed to expand the base of consensus regarding world development, and to vitalise global governance in a post-pandemic era.

The Forum is mostly being held via in-person meetings. Some sessions will be held virtually to facilitate the participation of international representatives.

The Commissioner of the Office of the Commissioner of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the People’s Republic of China in the Macao Special Administrative Region, Mr Liu Xianfa, has been invited to join the Macao delegation to the Forum.

Other members of the Macao delegation will include the Secretary for Economy and Finance, Mr Lei Wai Nong, and the Chief-of-Office of the Chief Executive’s Office, Ms Hoi Lai Fong.

While Mr Ho is away, the Secretary for Administration and Justice, Mr Cheong Weng Chon, will be Acting Chief Executive.
