The Municipal Affairs Bureau (IAM) continues to optimise the facilities in various parks and gardens. Following the earlier reopening of the children’s cycling/scooter field and the plant maze area of the Flora Park after revamping and optimisation, the pump track (cycling track) introduced for the first time in the park to provide the public with more diversified venues will be open on March 16 (Tuesday) for trial run.

The newly-added pump track (cycling track) is being introduced for the first time in Macao. Equipped with a circular curved wall and slopes with ups and downs, it increases the fun and challenge of cycling. The bicycles/balance bikes used must meet the requirements of the venue, i.e. the diameter of the wheels must be between 12 and 22 inches, and the bicycles must be equipped with a rear brake system or a front and rear brake system.

The track is open for users aged between 3 and 12 with certain bike controlling skills. It is advisable that each of them is accompanied and supervised by an adult during the use of the track. As the cycling track is challenging to some degree, users should prepare their own helmets and other safety protection equipment and wear them properly for safety reasons. Users or their accompanying adults should also check the condition and the braking system of their bikes in advance to make sure they function well and are suitable for use in the field.

The venue will be open for trial run starting from March 16, from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. daily (open on weekends and public holidays). Users will need to queue up on-site and enter the field in groups, with each group of no more than 15 people. Users of the same group should use the track in an orderly manner within the duration of each session which is tentatively set to be 15 minutes, after which the next group of users will enter the venue. Users may join the queue for unlimited times.

Parents and children are welcome to bring their own non-electric bicycles/balance bikes and have fun at the field. Additionally, the public is advised to only use their bikes/balance bikes after entering the park, abide by the rules for use of the children’s cycling/scooter field and pay attention to the points to note for use of the pump track (cycling track), in order to protect the safety of their own and others.
