The 16th China (Shenzhen) International Cultural Industries Fair (ICIF) was held online in the form of “Cloud Expo” for the first time from 16 to 20 November 2020. The Cultural Affairs Bureau of the Macao SAR Government joined hands with the Cultural Industries Fund and set up the “Macao Creative Pavilion” in virtual reality (VR) to showcase the achievements of Macao’s cultural and creative industries.

Since 2006, the Cultural Affairs Bureau has been organized the participation of local sectors in the ICIF every year, and 2020 marks the fifteenth consecutive year of participation in the Fair. In order to implement the Macao SA.R Government’s policy of promotion of the development of the cultural and creative industries, the Cultural Affairs Bureau and the Culture, Sports and Tourism Administration of the Shenzhen Municipality signed the “Memorandum of Cooperation on the Cultural and Creative Industries” last year to further strengthen the cultural exchange between the two regions, thus fully reflecting their close relationship in cultural cooperation and the active participation of Macao.

This year, the Cultural Affairs Bureau joined hands with the Cultural Industries Fund organizing the participation of local cultural and creative entities in the ICIF and setting up the “Macao Creative Pavilion”. The design concept of the VR pavilion combines the architectural characteristics of Macao with fashionable and popular elements. Covering an area of 150 square meters, this virtual pavilion presents Macao as a charming city where East meets West weaving tradition with modernity through virtual reality.
