More than a dozen Macao Polytechnic Institute (MPI) students from the Chinese-English Translation and Interpretation Program took part in the “25th Macao International Trade and Investment Fair”, assisting interpreting work and business negotiations. The occasion, on the one hand, provided students with the opportunity to apply what they had learned and to build practical workplace experience. On the other hand, the event helped students to understand the prospects and the unique edge of Macao as a platform of business cooperation between Portuguese-speaking countries.

Students were also encouraged to visit exhibitions, forums and various onsite events to acquire domain knowledge in areas such as modern financial services, start-up projects, as well as cultural and creative industries. Through the visit, students got an overview of the close ties between Macao and cities in the Greater Bay Area, embracing opportunities amid changes and challenges. As always, the MIF assumed the mission to promote cooperation and create business opportunities. The three-day event not only developed young students’ understanding of the development of Macao and the Greater Bay Area, but also opened up to them a broader international perspective.
