A survey conducted by the Consumer Council reviews that over 60 percent of consumers spend around 2 to 8 hours online each day at home with 2 to 4 family members logging on the internet at the same time, a smooth and stable router is therefore closely connected to consumers’ online activity.

The Council surveyed consumers’ comments on choosing routers through social media platforms, survey result shows that specification comes first when consumers choose their routers, brand and price of routers follow, meanwhile, consumers are worried about radiation emits from routers, safety of information and personal data as well as safety issue of the products.

Analyzing nutrients on food label

Nutrients are labelled differently on pre-packed food products, some are calculated based on each 100g or per portion, there are also doubts on the difference of sodium and salt. A feature on the labelling and calculation of nutrients on food labels are included in the current issue for consumers’ reference to eat healthier and smarter.

“Certified Shop” 20th anniversary

The Consumer Council launched the “Certified Shop” mechanism in 2001 and ensure the quality of “Certified Shops” by monitoring and setting up evaluating mechanism for these shops. To ensure better protection on consumers and quality service, the Council continues to improve the “Certified Shop” mechanism, a detailed coverage on the history and developments of “Certified Shop” is now available in no. 326 Consumer Report.

Consumer alert to enhance consumers’ ability to safeguard their rights

Consumers may not be unfamiliar with the term “cooling-off period”, a feature on the legal definition of “cooling-off period” is included in this issue. Further, coverage on the work and activities of the Council in the third quarter is also available.
