Possible warning signals to be issued due to the impact on "Nangka"

Update Time: 2020-10-13 18:00

Signals Forecast Period Probability
Typhoon Signal No.3 7pm Will be issued

Severe tropical storm "Nangka" (2016) will soon make landfall on Hainan Island. It is expected to continuously move in a west-northwest direction across Hainan Island. As “Nangka” is moving away, its distance from Macao is over 500 km, and its threat to Macao gradually diminishes. Tropical Cyclone Warning Signal No.3 will be issued at 7pm. However, under the combined effect of “Nangka” and the northeast monsoon system, the wind speed on the bridges, open areas, and high ground will maintain strong wind level with gusts between tonight and early morning tomorrow. Under the continuous effect of the outer circulation rain bands of “Nangka”, there will still be occasional showers in Macao. The public are advised to stay alert against severe weather and strong winds, and pay close attention to the latest weather news of SMG.

Remarks: The probabilities of issuing severe weather warning signals for the next one or two days are provided in the table. Public can learn the possibility of being affected by the tropical cyclone over the specific period of time in Macao so that necessary precautions can be well prepared earlier.
