The “Beijing Macao Week” will be unveiled at Wangfujing in Beijing on 26 September. As one of the event’s major highlights, an Outdoor Café themed as “Gathering at Dusk in Senado Square – in Beijing” opened on 19 September to serve guests with Macao’s signature delicacies at the Northern Plaza of Macau Center in Beijing. Between 4 p.m. and 9:30 p.m. from the day until 25 October, Beijing residents and visitors are welcome to visit the Outdoor Café for a taste of the diverse culinary culture embraced by Macao as a Creative City of Gastronomy.

To promote Macao’s gastronomic culture, the Outdoor Café themed as “Gathering at Dusk in Senado Square – in Beijing” features eight food trucks providing Portuguese egg tarts, crab congee, Macanese cuisines and snacks, Macau beer as well as Portuguese white and red wine, among other delights at the Northern Plaza of Macau Center. UnionPay International assists in promotion as a collaborative partner for the Café. There is also a kiosk selling special souvenirs from Macao.

Live band shows are scheduled between 7 p.m. – 9 p.m. daily during the whole period, along with Portuguese folk dance and music performances with Portuguese musical instrument from Macao at 4 p.m., 5 p.m. and 6 p.m. from 27 to 29 September, to recreate the artistic and romantic aroma of Senado Square for visitors to the Café.

The “Gathering at Dusk in Senado Square – in Beijing” Outdoor Café rigorously follows the COVID-19 prevention and control guidelines issued by Beijing Municipality. A distance of one meter or above is set between tables while all staffers must wear protective gears including masks and gloves. Alcohol-based hand sanitizers are provided for staffers and customers at the Café.

The organizers for the Beijing Macao Week include the Secretariat for Social Affairs and Culture of the Macao Special Administrative Region Government, Hong Kong and Macao Affairs Office of the People’s Government of Beijing Municipality, Beijing Municipal Bureau of Culture and Tourism as well as Dongcheng District People’s Government of Beijing Municipality. The coordinators include Macao Government Tourism Office (MGTO), Macao Trade and Investment Promotion Institute (IPIM), Office of the Macao Special Administrative Region in Beijing and Administrative Committee of Wangfujing of Dongcheng District of Beijing Municipality. The supporting entities include Beijing Municipal Health Commission, Cultural Affairs Bureau of the Macao SAR Government, Sports Bureau of the Macao SAR Government, the Macao Chamber of Commerce, the United Association of Food and Beverage Merchants of Macao, Industrial Association of Macau, Macau Importers & Exporters Association, International Lusophone Markets Business Association as well as the Federal General Commercial Association of Macau Small and Medium Enterprises.
