Information from the Statistics and Census Service (DSEC) indicated that, attributable to the adjustment of the quarantine measures, number of visitor arrivals to Macao in July 2020 surged by 228.1% month-to-month to 74,006; however, a year-on-year decline of more than 90% was still recorded. Same-day visitors and overnight visitors totalled 50,210 and 23,796 respectively. The average length of stay of visitors went up by 0.1 day year-on-year to 1.3 days; the average duration for overnight visitors (4.7 days) extended by 2.5 days, whereas that for same-day visitors (0.1 day) shortened by 0.1 day.

In terms of source of visitors, number of Mainland visitors tumbled by 97.4% year-on-year to 66,489, with 3,069 travelling under the Individual Visit Scheme. Visitors from the nine Pearl River Delta cities in the Greater Bay Area totalled 43,918, of whom 29,476 came from Zhuhai. Meanwhile, there were 6,240 visitors from Hong Kong and 1,271 from Taiwan.

Analysed by checkpoint, visitor arrivals by land totalled 73,604 in July, and 88.1% of them arrived through the Border Gate (64,816). Besides, there were 402 visitor arrivals by air.

In the first seven months of 2020, number of visitor arrivals reduced by 86.0% year-on-year to 3,342,906. Same-day visitors (1,773,428) and overnight visitors (1,569,478) declined by 85.9% and 86.0% respectively. The average length of stay of visitors went up by 0.3 day year-on-year to 1.4 days, with that of overnight visitors (2.8 days) rising by 0.6 day while that of same-day visitors (0.2 day) staying unchanged. Visitors from mainland China (2,406,078), Hong Kong (658,762) and Taiwan (82,899) all recorded decreases of more than 80%.
