It is forecasted that Higos will come closest to Macao at a distance of about 30 km, and Higos will make landfall at the western coast of Zhuhai later on. The wind in Macao will intensify and reach level 12 in the next 1-2 hours. There will be frequent heavy showers and thunderstorms. The public are advised to pay attention that, during the passage of typhoon Higos, places that are originally sheltered from the strong winds may become exposed.

The combined effect of the storm surge and the astronomical tide will cause the water level to rapidly increase in the next few hours. It is forecasted that there will be severe flooding in low-lying areas between 5am and 12pm, and the highest flooding level is expected to be between 1 and 1.5 meters. The public are advised to stay in safe location and high ground, and pay close attention to the latest weather news of SMG.

Remarks: The probabilities of issuing severe weather warning signals for the next one or two days are provided in the table. Public can learn the possibility of being affected by the tropical cyclone over the specific period of time in Macao so that necessary precautions can be well prepared earlier.
