The Macao Museum, under the auspices of the Cultural Affairs Bureau, is currently presenting “A Pearl of the Sea – Exhibition of Macao’s Urban Evolution”. In order to allow more time for the public to understand Macao’s fruitful achievements in various fields since the handover 20 years ago, the exhibition will be extended until 6 September.

A total of 101 exhibits are showcased in this exhibition, divided in four sections, namely: “Geographical Change”, “Past View and New Image”, “Infrastructure Constructions”, and “A New Chapter”. The display of various valuable images and presentation of physical objects of the Macao handover ceremony not only outlines the city’s development trajectory, but also evokes the precious collective memories of Macao residents, bringing a new impression of Macao's history to citizens and tourists. In the same venue, an educational area and multimedia installations have been made available to allow visitors to use interactive learning methods and encourage parents to bring their children to experience and understand the state of Macao’s urban development.

To further prevent the spread of the pandemic, cleaning and disinfection procedures have been reinforced in the Macao Museum, and all visitors are required to wear face masks, undergo body temperature checks, present their personal health declarations and cooperate with the crowd control measures. The Macao Museum is open daily from 10am to 6pm and is closed on Mondays. For more information about the exhibition, please contact the Macao Museum through tel. 2835 7911 during office hours, or visit www.macaumuseum.gov.mo or www.icm.gov.mo.
