The Novel Coronavirus Response and Coordination Centre has confirmed a new case of imported COVID-19 infection, taking to 25 the tally of confirmed cases in Macao.

The city’s 25th case involving a 41-year-old male resident of the Republic of the Indonesia, who is a non-resident worker registered with the Macao authorities. His wife was earlier confirmed as Macao’s14th case of COVID-19 infection and his son was confirmed as the 17th case of infection.

On 17 March, the family boarded Cathay Pacific flight CX718 from Jakarta to Hong Kong. The man was in seat number 47D. Since he had been classified as person in close contact with the 14th and 17th patient, he was taken to Conde S. Januário Hospital for further examination. The now-patient had had a fever. The first two COVID-19 tests gave negative results. Since symptoms relating to COVID-19 persisted, a third test was conducted on 23 March, which confirmed the man as being infected.

He is now being kept in isolation for treatment at Conde S. Januário Hospital. He is described as showing mild clinical signs of infection relating to the novel coronavirus. More details of the case were due to be available later.

There are 15 patients in Macao confirmed currently to have COVID-19 infection and who are being kept in isolation for treatment at Conde S. Januário Hospital. The 10 previously-confirmed cases in Macao had all been discharged after receiving treatment at Conde S. Januário Hospital.
