Macao residents wishing to go to Hong Kong – and who have been to the mainland in the 14 days prior to their intended arrival in Hong Kong – will be subjected to Hong Kong’s 14-day quarantine measure.

That measure comes into effect on Saturday (8 February), according to information shared with the Government of the Macao Special Administrative Region (SAR), by the Hong Kong SAR Government.

The 14-day quarantine measure covers all people entering Hong Kong from mainland boundary checkpoints; and those Hong Kong-bound travellers entering by other routes, but who have been to the mainland in the previous 14 days. The rule applies to Hong Kong residents, mainland residents and other people classified generally as visitors to Hong Kong.

The Macao SAR Government issues a reminder that local residents should be aware of – and pay close attention to – the existence of the new measure and the rules set out in it.

The Macao SAR Government also calls on the local community to stay united during this critical moment in disease-control work. Macao and Hong Kong are sharing in concerted effort as part of the country’s overall response – performed in a scientific manner – to tackling the novel coronavirus episode.
