The Government has today launched a website dedicated to giving the public easier access to information on the 20th anniversary of the establishment of the Macao Special Administrative Region (SAR).

The website (https://www.macao20.gov.mo/) features official news – including still pictures, videos, and information regarding live broadcast sessions – in three languages: Chinese, Portuguese and English. The website will also have an “Events” section, with information about celebrations to mark the anniversary.

The new website includes a section called “Our Two Decades”. At the top of the section is a link to a PDF of a 120-page publication of that name specially prepared by the Government Information Bureau to show Macao’s developmental progress. The ”Our Two Decades” publication captures the essence of Macao from the perspective of residents, demonstrating the characteristics of Macao in a new era and illustrating stories of Macao and its people through photographs, as well as explanations of innovative initiatives that have been introduced in those 20 years and that carry profound significance.

In addition, a promotional video produced by the Government Information Bureau will also be available on the website. The video aims to showcase Macao’s roles in the new era, and the city’s unique advantages as a world centre of tourism and leisure and as a commercial and trade cooperation service platform between China and Portuguese-speaking countries (collectively known as the “Centre and Platform” policies).

The website dedicated to the 20th anniversary incorporates in the “Our Two Decades” section, links to six articles summarising Macao’s achievements over the past two decades. The articles outline: the implementation of “One country, two systems”; Macao’s integration into the overall national development plan; the city’s progress in relation to economic diversification; the SAR Government’s effort to nurture a greater number of local talented people; the community’s participation in development and the Government’s programme for sharing prosperity to improve people’s well-being; and Macao’s new cityscape.
