The Chief Executive, Mr Chui Sai On, today said utmost efforts should be made to ensure tomorrow’s (Sunday’s) election was carried out in a smooth and orderly manner.

Mr Chui gave the directive to members of the Electoral Affairs Commission for the Chief Executive Election during his visit to inspect preparations at the polling station venue.

Mr Chui added he believed members of the Chief Executive Election Committee would also fulfil their civic duty in choosing a new Chief Executive for the city.

The Chief Executive Election is to be held at 10am tomorrow at the Macao East Asian Games Dome.

Arrangements relating to the election were in place: the polling station had been set up; equipment and facilities had undergone final testing; and poll workers had been trained to familiarise themselves with the election process, said the Electoral Affairs Commission’s President, Ms Song Man Lei.

Ms Song said the Commission expected tomorrow’s procedures to take approximately an hour and a half.

While in the polling station, Mr Chui was also briefed on the system to recognise members of the Chief Executive Election Committee as they entered the polling venue; and on the process by which they would vote. He also reviewed the setup of the polling venue and the setup inside polling booths.

Officials accompanying Mr Chui on the visit were: the Secretary for Administration and Justice, Ms Chan Hoi Fan; and the Chief-of-Office of the Chief Executive’s Office, Ms O Lam.
