The President of the Electoral Affairs Commission for the Chief Executive Election, Ms Song Man Lei, said that the Commission had discussed the publicity effort for the 16 June election that will select members of the Chief Executive Election Committee. Resolutions had been made by the Commission regarding the design of publicity posters and video materials.

After a Commission meeting held on Tuesday (26 March), Ms Song told the media that the Electoral Affairs Commission for the Chief Executive Election had made decisions regarding the design of the publicity posters and video materials for the election to select members of the Chief Executive Election Committee. These materials would clearly explain the way to fill in the voting form, the voting procedures, and the operation of electronic counting of votes, with the aim of ensuring the voting goes smoothly.

Ms Song said that during the meeting, the Commission also made a decision on the use of public-sector workers to assist with the election-day process on 16 June. It planned to recruit 106 civil servants with experience in the voting process and vote counting during the previous Chief Executive Election process and its associated election to select members of the Chief Executive Election Committee. The workers to be recruited for this year’s task would nonetheless receive training administered by the secretariat of the Electoral Affairs Commission for the Chief Executive Election.

The Electoral Affairs Commission for the Chief Executive Election also made decisions on Tuesday regarding the venues for polling stations in this year’s election that will select members of the Chief Executive Election Committee. The decisions on polling venues followed site visits last week to: the Macao Polytechnic Institute Multisport Pavilion; the Macao Forum; and the Escola Luso-Chinesa Técnico-Profissional. Those places will serve as polling stations for the sectors/sub-sectors due to choose members of the Chief Executive Election Committee in the following way:

• Macao Polytechnic Institute Multisport Pavilion: commercial, industrial, financial and educational interests;
• Macao Forum: social service, sports, and professional interests; and
• Escola Luso-Chinesa Técnico-Profissional: labour and culture interests.

Ms Song said the Electoral Affairs Commissionfor the Chief Executive Election would hold weekly meetings, with support from its secretariat and other departments, to ensure orderly progress with all work related to the Chief Executive Election.
