In response to the first “China Cultural and Natural Heritage Day” on 10 June, the Cultural Affairs Bureau is going to hold a series of exciting activities, including the highlighted programme “Genesis and Spirit – Showcase of Guangxi Intangible Cultural Heritage”, which features Guangxi’s rich and diverse intangible cultural heritages, free visits to World Heritage Sites and museums, cultural and arts performances at the World Heritage Sites, exhibitions and workshops, among others, thus raising the public awareness of the cultural heritage.

According to the State Council directive, the China Cultural Heritage Day has been celebrated annually on the second Saturday of the month of  June since 2006. In order to raise public awareness about the importance of safeguarding all types of heritage (including cultural and natural heritages), the “Cultural Heritage Day” was renamed “Cultural and Natural Heritage Day” from 2017.

Further information will be announced later.

Staring from 10 June, the Macao Archives will organize the exhibition “Macao Illustrated – Exhibition of City Plans and Architectural Drawings from the Macao Archives’ Collection”, featuring a selection of about 60 city plans and architectural drawings kept in the Macao Archives and presenting the history of Macao’s evolvement. Meanwhile, the exhibition “In Search of those Journeys – A Retrospective Exhibition of the Ferry Transport between Macao and the Islands” at the Nostalgic House of the Taipa Houses, and the exhibition “Story of Cannon-Making – Children Experience Exhibition” at the Macao Museum are also open to the general public.

On 10 June, the Chinese Ancient Books Chamber at Sir Robert Ho Tung Library will be open to the public from 3pm to 6pm.
