  • Macao’s first ever large-scale international regatta event, the “2019 Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area Cup Regatta & Macao Cup International Regatta”, was held from 10 to 13 January. It was co-organised by the Macao Sports Bureau.

  • Macao’s 76.7-kilometre long coastline offers great conditions for international sailing events.

  • A total of 20 teams – comprising an aggregate of more than 300 participants – joined the competition. The participating teams included representatives from mainland China, Australia, Russia, United States, France, Germany, and Spain.

  • Before the competition, the participating teams took part in a fleet parade, offering residents and tourists an opportunity to view the racing boats.

  • Following the parade, the teams sailed to waters south of Hac Sa Beach, where the four-day event took place.

  • The teams prepared diligently to cope with the challenges of such competition.

  • Teams taking part in the event’s two regattas made their best efforts to deliver highly competitive performances.

  • The teams competed strongly in what were very tight races.

  • A team from Macao won the “2019 Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area Cup Regatta”, while a team from Germany claimed victory in the “Macao Cup International Regatta”.
