On the second anniversary of the announcement of the “Outline Development Plan for the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area”, in order to bring into play the advantages of Macao's “Sino-Portuguese Platform”, and promote the “Greater Bay Area Portuguese Language Education Alliance” to the Lusophone countries to develop the Sino-Portuguese academic cooperation, the Centre for Portuguese Studies, one of the research centres of the Macao Polytechnic Institute, will hold “The Greater Bay Area Portuguese Language and Sino-Portuguese Academic Cooperation” online Forum on 20^th April 2021. The experts of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area and the Lusophone countries will gather in the cloud to express their opinions. We sincerely invite Chinese and Portuguese experts, teachers and students of higher education institutions, researchers in various related fields and other interested parties to participate in this online Forum.

The “Greater Bay Area Portuguese Language Education Alliance” was formally established in June 2020.  Since its establishment, and under the agreements of the “Alliance”, the Macao Polytechnic Institute, the Guangdong University of Foreign Studies, and the School of Professional and Continuing Education of Hong Kong University have actively ensured the smooth flow of communication channels between teachers and students, promoted academic research cooperation and successively held an online thematic forum on  “Machine Translation, Artificial Intelligence and Smart Cities in the Big Data Era”, “Cooperation and Innovation: Annual Conference 2021 of the Greater Bay Area Portuguese Language Education Alliance” on-site and online, and other academic activities. They will continue to explore in depth and promote the joint development of teaching and scientific research in the three higher education institutions, in order to promote the comprehensive and in-depth cooperation with the Lusophone countries in the Greater Bay Area, as well as exchanges, cooperation and multi-dimensional integration into the country's "Belt and Road" development and construction.

The Centre for Portuguese Studies of the Macao Polytechnic Institute successfully held the first “Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area Portuguese Language Teaching Development Forum” in 2019, when the experts in the Portuguese language field from Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macao gathered for the first time in Macao to discuss the new development of Portuguese language teaching in the Greater Bay Area. This year's Forum takes as its theme the Portuguese and Sino-Portuguese academic cooperation, focusing on exploring cross-regional academic networks and international academic cooperation. MPI will invite the experts from the Greater Bay Area, and is also inviting the heads and experts of well-known academic institutions in Portuguese-speaking countries such as the Management Forum of Higher Education in Portuguese Speaking Countries and Territories (FORGES), International Institute of the Portuguese Language (IILP), and Brazilian Association for International Education (FAUBAI). The Forum will gather experts in the cloud to discuss academic cooperation between the Greater Bay Area and the Lusophone countries, help fully integrate the academic network of the Bay Area and the Lusophone countries, combine the characteristics of Macao’s “platform” with academic advantages in language technology, and promote the multi-regional exchange of institutions of higher learning fields and multi-level academic cooperation to further enrich the achievements of Sino-Portuguese academic cooperation.
