Information from the Statistics and Census Service (DSEC) indicated that number of visitor arrivals grew by 9.3% month-to-month to 636,351 in November 2020; however, the figure represented a year-on-year decline of 78.1%. Overnight visitors and same-day visitors totalled 323,794 and 312,557 respectively. The average length of stay of visitors went up by 0.5 day year-on-year to 1.7 days; the duration for overnight visitors (3.1 days) rose by 0.7 day, whereas that for same-day visitors (0.1 day) shortened by 0.1 day.

In terms of source of visitors, number of Mainland visitors fell by 71.0% year-on-year to 588,511, with those travelling under the Individual Visit Scheme adding up to 197,311. Visitors from the nine Pearl River Delta cities in the Greater Bay Area totalled 327,413, of whom 159,079 (48.6% of total) came from Zhuhai. Meanwhile, there were 43,178 visitors from Hong Kong and 4,589 from Taiwan.

Analysed by checkpoint, visitor arrivals by land totalled 598,045 in November, and 84.3% (504,395) of them arrived through the Border Gate. Visitor arrivals by air and by sea stood at 25,206 and 13,100 respectively.

From January to November 2020, number of visitor arrivals declined by 85.6%      year-on-year to 5,237,441. Number of same-day visitors (2,805,704) and overnight visitors (2,431,737) slid by 85.4% and 85.8% year-on-year respectively. The average length of stay of visitors went up by 0.2 day year-on-year to 1.4 days, with that of overnight visitors (2.8 days) rising by 0.6 day while that of same-day visitors (0.2 day) remaining unchanged.
