Macao Government Tourism Office (MGTO) held a prize-giving ceremony today (7 November) for the Student Drawing Contest, Photo Contest, Video Production Contest and Poster Design Contest of the 30th Macao International Fireworks Display Contest.

The prize-giving ceremony was held at the Cotai Expo of the Venetian Macao during the 8th Macao International Travel (Industry) Expo (MITE). MGTO Director Maria Helena de Senna Fernandes, MGTO Deputy Director Ricky Hoi, Head of Department of Cultural and Recreational Affairs and Civic Education of Municipal Affairs Bureau, Patsy Ko Pui San, Head of Division of Educational Equipment of Education and Youth Affairs Bureau, Wong Chio In, Head of Division of Visual Art of Cultural Affairs Bureau, Lam Vai Ip, Head of Maritime Services Division of Marine and Water Bureau, Chan Un Seng, Head of Student Affairs Office of Macao Polytechnic Institute, Alice Lao, along with personages representing local circles of media, photographers, designers and advertising agencies presented a total of 39 prizes to winners of the Student Drawing Contest, Photo Contest as well as the newly-launched Video Production Contest and Poster Design Contest of the 30th Macao International Fireworks Display Contest. Winners or persons on their behalf received the prizes at the ceremony and exchanged ideas that inspired their creativity. A lively vibe filled the occasion. The prize-winning works are displayed in MGTO Pavilion at MITE. Residents and visitors are welcome to appreciate the works today and tomorrow.

Director Senna Fernandes expressed, “The Macao International Fireworks Display Contest has become a captivating tourism event brand and won the love of local and visiting spectators. We also rolled out an array of outreach programs with the hope to enhance residents’ involvement and provide a platform for local creative talent to shine.”

In the Photo Contest of the 30th Macao International Fireworks Display Contest, the first prizes in Group 1: Students (Age: 24 or under) and Group 2: Public (Age: 18 or above) went to Chao Chi Hun and Li Man Lok respectively. In the Student Drawing Contest, Leong Iat Hei received the first prize in Group 1 (Age: 6 to 10) while the first prizes in Group 2 (Age: 11 to 14) and Group 3 (Age: 15 to 18) went to Cheng Wang Ian and Chong Leong Hang respectively. In the Video Production Contest, the first prizes in Group 1 (High school) and Group 2 (Public) went to Liang Ngai Cheok and Cheong Chi Fong. The first prize of the Poster Design Contest (Group: Public) went to Chan Ka Man. The full list of awardees is available on MGTO’s website http://fireworks.macaotourism.gov.mo.

Owing to the sweeping global COVID-19 pandemic this year, after careful assessment and thorough speculation, MGTO announced the decision in early May to cancel the 31th Macao International Fireworks Display Contest originally scheduled for this year and other outreach programs including the Student Drawing Contest, Photo Contest, Fireworks Carnival and so forth.
