The second edition of the book “Macao Gaming Law” written by Professor Wang Changbin, Director of the Centre for Gaming and Tourism Studies of MPI, has recently been republished by the People’s Publishing House, a national authoritative publishing company. This is the first book in Mainland China and Macao to systematically study and interpret Macao’s gaming law. The first edition of the book, published in 2012, won the Merit Award of the 4th Outstanding Achievement Awards for Macao Research in Humanities and Social Sciences in 2015.

People’s Publishing House has been the first well-known comprehensive publisher of philosophy and social sciences since the founding of the People’s Republic of China. It publishes the works of Chinese national leaders and many famous scholars, and is an important national publishing unit. Professor Wang Changbin has long been committed to the teaching and research of gaming law, and his research on gaming law has been widely recognized in Macao and beyond. He has been entrusted with a number of gaming policy research projects from the Macao SAR government. The publication of the second edition of “Macao Gaming Law” by the People’s Publishing House further demonstrates the value of his research.

It has been seven years since the first edition of “Macao Gaming Law” was published. Macao’s gaming laws, such as the “Legal Framework for the Operations of Casino Games of Fortune” (Law no. 16/2001), have undergone several major revisions during this period. Furthermore, Macao’s anti-money-laundering legal system has been updated in line with international standards. The second edition of “Macao Gaming Law” reflects the most recent changes in Macao’s gaming legal system. In addition, this updated edition adds a part of the historical development of Macao’s gaming laws and regulations, and discusses in greater detail the gaming concession system in Macao, which aims to learn lessons from the past and apply them in the future. This book can be used as a textbook for students majoring in law and business administration who wish to study the legal system of gaming in Macao, as well as a reference for academic research on gaming law.
