The director of the Education and Youth Affairs Bureau (hereinafter referred to as the “DSEJ”) Lou Pak Sang, together with the deputy directors and chiefs of the bureau, met with representatives of the Chinese Educators Association of Macao and the Union of Catholic Schools of Macao on 5^th May to conclude in depth the phased experience obtained from the resumption of classes for senior secondary education so as to better prepare for the resumption of classes for junior secondary education on 11^th May and the implementation of the friendly measure, and also actively discuss about the class resumption preparatory plan for the rest of the educational stages.

In the meeting, representatives of the two education groups thanked the DSEJ for sending staff to visit all local schools to understand the situations of and support the schools’ operation after class resumption for senior secondary schools. By concluding the experience obtained from the class resumption for senior secondary education, the attendees of the meeting discussed in depth about issues like optimising entry-exit arrangements for cross-border students, promoting diversified catering modes for students, providing interesting and developmental activities to students in the friendly measure, the handling of the selective services which have been suspended due to the epidemic, adjusting the course arrangements for physical education classes by focusing on imparting physical education knowledge and sports theories, but not carrying out physical activities, and so forth. At the same time, in-depth and practical discussion on the class resumption preparatory plan for primary, infant and special education was also conducted. The attendees reached a consensus that primary schools can resume classes in phases so that schools can have more ample time to make preparations and arrangements. Also, it is not ruled out that infant and special education schools might not resume classes in this academic year. Moreover, the judgement of the case about the teaching staff whose job termination compensation was offset by his/her provident fund was also discussed.

Representatives from the two education groups who attended the meeting also expressed that they will continue to conclude the experience obtained from the class resumption work and prepare well for the class resumption of the rest of the educational stages. Also attending the meeting were the Deputy Directors of the DSEJ, Leong Vai Kei and Kong Chi Meng; representatives of the Chinese Educators Association--President Chan Hong, Chairperson of the Board of Directors Cheang Hong Kuong, Supervisor Kou Kam Fai, Vice President Lai Sai Kei, Vice Chairperson of the Board of Directors Vong Kuoc Ieng; and representatives of Macao Catholic Schools Association--President Chow Pak Fai, Chairperson of the Board of Directors Wong Piu, Supervisor Pun Chi Meng, Treasurer Luk Kam Lee and Chan Teng Fong.
