A total of 468 students from 19 schools took part in the 2018/2019 edition of a citywide rope-skipping festival held on 19 May 2019.

The event is a competition: one part is for primary-school students and one for secondary-school students. There are several disciplines, including a speed test; a single-freestyle category; and group skipping skills.

Group rope jumpers are judged on their synchronisation as a team, and the matching of the moves to the music, as well as on the quality and quantity of acrobatic-style moves.

Nowadays, a number of local schools organise classes for rope skipping, with the aim of training a fresh generation of young athletes for the sport.
